TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN TOUR

Kaiser Early Childhood Center, 25 S Hill Ct, Oakland, CA 94618
Saturday, January 21, 9am

Enrollment Window: December 1, 2022 – February 10, 2023

All students who hope to start at a new school must register with OUSD.

Admission to Chabot Elementary and other schools in the Oakland Unified School District is determined by the district’s Student Welcome Center (also known as the Student Assignment Office or SAO), which is responsible for registering and assigning all OUSD students. This office is located at:

746 Grand Ave (at the Lakeview School Campus) Oakland, CA 94610
Telephone: 510-879-4600
Website: www.ousd.org/enroll
Email: enroll@ousd.org

The school selection process begins in December, when parents or guardians submit Selections Application forms to the district. These forms are available from the SAO or from any public elementary school in Oakland. When submitting the application, you must also bring proof of your child’s age (birth certificate, passport, I-94, or a transcript or report card from a California school), and three original documents to verify your address (utility bills, automobile registration with proof of insurance, homeowner or renter’s insurance policy, property tax statement, rental agreement, grant deed or title to your home, property tax statement or official letter from a social service or government agency). Selections applications are submitted to the Student Assignment Office in February. The SAO reviews the applications and assigns each child to a school. Families will receive an assignment letter sometime in the spring.

Transitional Kindergarten:

In the 2023-2024 school year, the Kaiser ECE will host two TK classes — one from Chabot Elementary and one from Peralta Elementary. TK students will attend school at Kaiser throughout the year and at the end of the school year, will matriculate into kindergarten at their respective campuses without needing to reapply.

For enrollment prioritization purposes, these TK classes are treated as if they were physically located at the Chabot and Peralta campuses. This means that a family would have neighborhood priority if they already lived within the established neighborhood boundaries for the respective schools, and sibling priority if a sibling currently attends one of those schools. Children born between September 2nd, 2018 and April 1st, 2019 are eligible for TK.

For more information about Chabot TK, please contact the Kaiser Principal, Alesia Eutsler at alesia.eutsler@ousd.org
