Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Festival

Friday, January 20, in the MPR (Note revised schedule)

  • Grades K-1, 8:40am – 9:30am
  • Grades 4 and 5, 11am – 12:30pm
  • Grades 2 and 3, 1pm – 2:15pm

The festival celebrates the eloquence and the leadership for justice that defined the life of Dr. King.  It is held throughout the Oakland Unified School District and is one of the highlights on the Chabot calendar as individual students, groups of students, and classes take the stage to recite poems and speeches fearlessly and with emotional power.  This year’s theme is Purpose in Life & How We Want to Be Remembered

For more information about Chabot’s Oratorical and to register, please see this ORATORICAL INFORMATION FLYER.  Entry forms are due by Friday, January 6.  All students are encouraged to recite!
