The Enrollment Window is December 1 – February 10
All students who hope to start at a new school must register with OUSD
Admission to Chabot Elementary and other schools in the Oakland Unified School District is determined by the district’s Student Welcome Center, which is responsible for registering and assigning all OUSD students. This office is located at:
746 Grand Ave (at the Lakeview School Campus) Oakland, CA 94610
The school selection process begins December 1, when parents or guardians can submit an online application through the OUSD website.
When submitting the application, you must also upload proof of your child’s age (birth certificate, passport, I-94, and one document to verify your address, such as utility bills, automobile registration with proof of insurance, homeowner or renter’s insurance policy, property tax statement, rental agreement, grant deed or title to your home, property tax statement or official letter from a social service or government agency. The Welcome Center reviews the applications and assigns each child to a school. Families will receive an email or text with your school assignment on March 6. Families have until March 27 to accept/decline the offer.

The steps for enrollment are below:
1. Explore – Use OaklandSchoolFinder to explore public school options in Oakland.
2. Apply – Submit an application between December to February.
3. Confirm – After you receive your offer in March accept (or decline) your school offer by the March deadline.
4. Register – Online registration and/or registration paper forms will be available in Spring.

Equitable Enrollment Pilot
Chabot is proud to be one of three schools in Oakland participating in an Equitable Enrollment Pilot. Under this pilot, families living in Priority Census Tracts where the median income is under $50,000, will be given priority in enrollment after siblings and neighborhood.
