Did you know that the school calendar is shifting to an earlier start date? Would you like to understand how the change will impact the OUSD community? OUSD Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell. Jenine Lindsey, Director of Labor, and Sondra Aguilera, Deputy Chief of Student Services will explain the changes to the school calendar, the reasoning behind them, and describe the changes that are still being negotiated to finalize the three-year contract. Share your thoughts by taking a survey. Hope to see you there!

Can’t make it on Sept. 26? OUSD will hold two more community meetings about the school year calendar. Stay tuned for meeting dates and locations.
OUSD Needs Your Input About Priorities for the Next 5 Years
The district hosted a series of Blueprint for Quality Schools community meetings last week. If you weren’t able to join, we still want to hear from you! Please take two minutes to complete our online survey by September 25. Your input will help inform options that OUSD considers in the future, including: changing school buildings; expanding, merging, or closing schools; and changing the way Central Office supports schools. Questions? Please email.

Please join us as we kick off the school year with the new Dad’s Social Club. We’ll be meeting Tuesday, September 19th at 7pm at McNally’s (5352 College Ave.). The chairs for this school year are Drew McGowan, Tod Alsman and Tom Frank.
Our goal is simple: to create a place for Chabot Dads to hang out, get to know each other and help the school all at the same time. There are a few school events where we’ll play an active role (Carnival, Auction and Purple & Gold Day as well as some ongoing clean ups and projects). We’ll be planning meet ups at various Oakland establishments and planning things such as tailgates, game watches, outings, seminars, etc.
If you’d like to be on our email list and stay informed, please email your name, contact information and the grades (and teacher) of your kid(s) to: Drew McGowan (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to a very active and fun year ahead!
Special thanks to the Dads who came out to spruce up the school yards right before school started. I know the teachers, parents, and children are all very appreciative!
Hope to see you Tuesday, Sept. 19th at 7pm at McNally’s. Bring a friend!
